The Medical Society of New Jersey serves as the voice of physicians in the Garden State. We use the collective strength of our physician members to have an impact on legislation, regulations, and managed care.
MSNJ concentrates its physician advocacy in the areas of practice autonomy, access to care, quality of care, and tort reform. Over the last few years, we’ve made numerous strides in correcting abuses of managed care. Examples include passage of the joint negotiations act, prompt payment law, HealthCare Quality Act, and the mandated 48-hour maternity stay in hospitals. MSNJ helps to restore the practice of medicine to physicians; we enhance access to quality medical care for patients.
We offer valuable benefits, such as our Claims Assistance Program, practice management assistance, and a cadre of preferred vendors who offer discounts to MSNJ members. We also address the physician’s bottom line by decreasing the number of insurance claim denials and obtaining timely reimbursement for services. MSNJ, along with other prominent medical societies, has filed six class-action lawsuits against major managed care insurance companies. Several of those cases have settled and members are beginning to reap the benefits of the settlements through both monetary recovery and court-mandated changes in claims handling procedures.
MSNJ and many of the county medical societies offer dues discounts for the first year of practice for a new member. See the dues chart link above to determine your first year county and MSNJ dues. Forward any questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
