New Rules regarding Prescription Pads

NJ Prescription Blank Rule Deadline Extension The October 1, 2008, deadline for changes to prescription blanks was extended indefinitely. The Division of Consumer Affairs stated that the preprinting of NPI numbers and sequential numbering would not be required until clarifying regulations were adopted. In the meantime all prescription blanks are required to include consecutive numbers, but you are permitted to write in or stamp these numbers onto the blanks. If you have an NPI number that number must also appear. You must, however, maintain a system for tracking the consecutive numbers The Division of Consumer Affairs letter is on

Board of Medical Examiners has adopted rules for the Cultural Competency CME training requirement

Physicians who have not had Cultural Competency education must complete a one time Cultural Competency Training Course of at least 6 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits prior to June 30, 2009. The 6 credits are in addition to the 100 credits that are required during a renewal cycle (40 Category 1 and remaining 60 in either Category 1 or 2 Credit).
CULTURAL COMPETENCY TRAINING NOW REQUIRED FOR NEXT NJ MEDICAL LICENSURE RENEWAL
The New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners has adopted rules for the Cultural Competency CME training requirement. Physicians who have not had Cultural Competency education (if you did you must have proof of it), must complete a one time Cultural Competency Training Course of at least 6 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit prior to June 30, 2009.
The 6 credits are in addition to the 100 credits that are required during a renewal cycle (40 Category 1 and remaining 60 in either Category 1 or 2 Credit). These credits can be obtained in any approved venue however, the United States Department Health and Human Services provides a NO COST CME activity that physicians can participate in that will award up to 9 credits in AMA PRA
Category 1 Credit. Physicians can participate online or order a no cost DVD after registering. The Link is:
