Description: Potential pitfalls exist on a daily basis in private physician practice setting. Physicians and staff members alike may knowingly or unknowingly breach security through HIPAA violations, EMR security or through use of social media in the workplace. Such violations can lead to increased malpractice premiums, damage to a physician practice’s reputation. This session is designed to minimize risk and identify things that may not be so obvious to the threat of a business.

ICD-10: An Overview

Description: On October 1, 2013, ICD-10 will go into effect which means practices will have to adapt to another new system. According to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) practices will have to take into account the potential updated software installation, staff training, changes to business operations and workflows, internal and external testing, reprinting of manuals and other materials, and more. This session will provide guidance for how a primary care physician practice can handle the transition.

MAINTAINING PRIVACY AND SECURITY IN AN EVER-INCREASING TECHNOLOGICAL WORLD

Description: At a time when information is readily accessible on any technologically-driven device (i.e. laptop, tablet, smartphone) the demand for patient privacy and security is paramount. This session will provide information and guidance on how to limit security breaches and what steps to take if an employee of the practice willingly or unwillingly violates the practice’s or a patient’s confidentiality. It will also provide insight on recommended policies and procedures and how a practice should handle a physician or employee that violates this.

INTELLIGENT DIVISION OF LABOR APPROACH FOR THE ICD 10 CONVERSION

Description: If the ANSI 5010 transition was rough just wait until ICD-10! The ICD-10 conversion requires work that must be coordinated among payers, PMIS and EHR vendors, and healthcare organizations. Join our discussion - with representatives from a hospital system and a vendor – where we will outline a proactive “divide and conquer” or “co-sourcing” approach to managing the ICD-10 conversions. We will also outline the key ICD-10 tasks and discuss opportunities where practices and hospitals can leverage vendors or payers in a way that reduces work. This exercise can also highlight areas of organizational risk and serve as a starting point for ICD-10 resource planning and risk mitigation strategies.

MSNJ 2012 Annual Meeting Vendor FAQs

What is the date and time of the meeting?
May 4 and May 5, 2012 at the Westin in Mount Laurel, NJ. Exhibit hours are from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on both days.

Who generally attends this meeting?
On Friday, May 4, we will hold an educational seminar for practice managers, other office staff, and physicians. The event provides an opportunity for attendees to network with their peers and attend seminars regarding the running of a medical practice in today's environment. On Saturday, May 5, MSNJ will hold our House of Delegates business meeting. Attendees will be comprised of physicians from throughout the State of New Jersey.

What is the deadline to register for an exhibit table?
April 20, 2012.

Where will the meeting be held?
The Westin Mount Laurel, 555 Fellowship Rd., Mount Laurel, NJ 08054

Are you offering any early bird discounts?
Discounts valid until 2/4/12:
MSNJ Corporate Partners: $700 per day or $1,100 for both days;
Non Partner Rate: $900 per day or $1,500 for both days.

What are your rates for exhibiting?
Fees after 2/4/12:
MSNJ Corporate Partners: $900 per day or $1,300 for both days;
Non Partner Rate: $1,100 per day or $1,700 for both days.

What size table does my registration include?
One 6' draped exhibit table.

Is wireless internet available?
Yes

How many representatives are we allowed to bring?
Registration fee includes attendance for 2 exhibitor representatives (includes food). There is an additional fee of $125 for each additional representative.

What time can we set up each day?
Exhibitor set-up begins at 6:30 A.M. on both days.

Can we keep our booths assembled between Friday and Saturday?
No. Booths must be dismantled beginning at 4:00 P.M. on both days.

Are there any raffles we can participate in?
Exhibitors are welcome to participate in the Bingo raffle drawings which will take place on both days by bringing a prize(s).
 
Are we entitled to an ad in the program book?
Yes. One-day exhibitors are entitled to a free half-page (8.5"x5.5") ad; two-day exhibitors are entitled to a full-page (8.5"x11") ad.
