Please remember:

Medicare is not accepting stamped signatures as a valid prescription/order for a test. Medicare Contractors will deny or recall payments that do not have a LEGIBLE handwritten or electronic signature.

MEDICARE UPDATE

The deadline for making Medicare participation status changes is March 17, 2010. Given the 21% fee cut, physicians must evaluate their participation options now. Physicians may decline new Medicare patients. Physicians may reschedule routing visits (if medically appropriate) until after CMS' ten business day freeze on processing Medicare claims for payment.

Contact your LEGISLATORS through the AMA grassroots hotline at 1-800-833-6354. Tell them:

Congress had more than one year to repeal the Medicare payment formula and ensure the security and stability of the program. Instead, it has abandoned patients who rely on Medicare and TRICARE for their health care.

Parliamentary procedures offer no excuse for the harm they are causing these programs.

Stop playing games with patients and the physicians; repeal the sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula once and for all!
