About Camden County Medical Society

Mission Statement
The purpose of this Society shall be to confederate into one organization the physicians of Camden County , and, with other County Societies, to form the Medical Society of New Jersey, and through it, with other State Associations, to form and maintain the American Medical Association; to advance medical science and elevate professional character, to strengthen the professional and social ties among its members; and to safeguard the rights and interests of those legally engaged in the practice of medicine; to study the means calculated to render the medical profession most useful to the general public, by sanitary and scientific publications in the Medical Journals and otherwise, and by judicious efforts to influence the enactment of legislation in interests of the profession and the people.

Society Meetings
The Executive Committee meets ten times per year on the first Tuesday evening of each month, except July and August (no meetings). The September meeting is held on the second Tuesday evening due to the Labor Day weekend. The President may change the date of a meeting if he/she deems it necessary. Executive Committee meetings are open to all members. Location is to be determined. Two General Membership Dinner Meetings are held per year in the months of February and May. These meetings are held in local restaurants, and a program or entertainment is usually planned. The Societys Annual Meeting and Election of Officers is held in May.

Election of Members
Applications for membership are for the Medical Society of New Jersey as well as Camden County Medical Society. Your application may also be used for membership in the AMA. (AMA membership is encouraged, but optional).

Referrals for Patients
One of the primary functions of the CCMS office is to give physician referrals to the public. (These referrals are restricted to members of CCMS only). All physicians will receive a history questionnaire to complete to aid CCMS in conducting referrals from a computer. Physicians should also call CCMS with any change(s) of their base information.

Committees
Current committees of the Society are: Health Care Delivery; Budget; Committee On Aging; Conservation of Vision; Constitution and Bylaws; Legislative; Long-Range Planning; Maternal and Infant Health; Infectious Disease; Medicare/ Insurance Advisory; Membership; Nursing Task Force; Office Management; Drug & Alcohol Abuse; Local MedAc/JemPac; and Public Relations/Physicians Placement.

Insurance
Health and dental insurance, as well as Major Medical, Life, Retirement Plans, etc. are available to members of the county and state societies through plans sponsored by the Medical Society of New Jersey. These insurances offer excellent coverage at reasonable rates. Office employees of enrolled physicians may also be covered through some of these insurance programs.
